This Punjabi ring ended up in Afghanistan, all a part of that wonderful silk road! It’s a huge ring, but actually quite comfortable. The top has a beautiful piece of lapis lazuli as the focal point. The border and back has metal work that has been filled with enamel. This is a traditional technique that is practiced in many areas in Central Asia. China, especially, is quite famous for its enamel work.

The metal appears to be a mix of brass with other metals. It would have to be analyzed.

Estimated age: 1920’s

Size: 8.5

Stone: 1.25″ diameter (3.3 cm)
Full ring: 1.9″ diameter (4.5 cm)
