Wonderful aged wood surface on this “palm-sitter” of a ball, from the 19th century. Although there is a good deal of small surface marks, I do not believe this would have had any function besides being a handsome object and demonstrating a woodworker’s skill. There is a faint and faded row of letters on one side, across the middle, of which I can only make out the first three “A R E” — they are followed by quite a few others but those are too faint to read. Features 6 orb-like shapes, and 3 colors and types of wood. Circumference is 7.5″. Some overall age and wear.
