Chromolithographic trade card produced in the 1890s for the Singer Sewing Machine Manufacturing Co “Costumes of All Nations” series. The cards are well detailed, and the colors are rich and vibrant. Each card features a person or people from a country or a region of the world, dressed in national costumes, and posing at a Singer Sewing machine. Text on the back of the card talks about the country/region, from the perspective of the 1890s. The visual depictions and ad copy are, of course, filtered through the Singer marketing department of the day. 5 1/8″ x 3 1/8″. The paper shows age/wear, please see photos.
