A colorful and highly detailed crewelwork hand-embroidery with a rendition of Betsy Ross embroidering the stars onto the American flag, by an open fire. Possibly done from a kit. The embroidery is initialed and dated in the lower right corner, and I believe the date is 1976, which would mean that this piece was likely made for the US Bicentennial. I am unsure whether the piece has been rescued from something (like a cushion cover, etc), or whether it was made but never used or incorporated into anything. Displaying it framed seems like a great choice. The embroidery itself is 12 3/4″ x 8″; the overall size is a bit larger. A small discoloration spot on the background. A bit of storage type surface wear to the embroidery; this is minor. Good vintage condition.
