Above Us, Only Sky – triptych
Triptych of trees and crows art quilts, on stretcher bars
The title refers to the well-known song, “Imagine”, by John Lennon.
I machine-stitched the tree branches in shades of variegated brown cotton threads, and the black birds are also machine-stitched. The shades and the branching patterns give depth to the scene.
The sky is hand-dyed cotton fabric. Each quilt is mounted on 8×8-inch stretcher bars, and wired on the back for hanging. The three panels may be positioned to imply continuity of the trees and clouds.
Fiber art for the wall, decorative objects, and fiber art jewelry. Most pieces are made with my signature “thread sculpture” technique, because fiber art is unique!
