Description

This is a Japanese lady in a kimono sitting on a base where the background is patterned with a chrysanthemum. The background is glazed in shades of rust and orange. When you lift her, there is a fan underneath. The back of the base has a Japanese Tori on it. The lady wears a kimono that matches the one on the base.

I make all different sizes of my head planters and pictures can be deceiving. Please carefully look at the dimensions to see if it is a small one to fit on a window ledge or a larger one for a table or maybe a book case. I also try to have at least one photo with me holding a base or head so you can get an idea of the size.

Dimensions:
Planter- 6 1/4 inches high
4 inches wide in the front
3 inches wide from front to back
Head size for planting is 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches deep
Base- 4 1/4 tall x 9 inches wide x 4 1/2 inches deep

Each piece is fired twice, the first time with the underglaze painted on. Next they receive a clear or color coat of glaze and then they are fired again. The planters have a hole through the head and body so they can be watered. One photo shows an air plant but it does not come with the planter. It is a great size for a succulent or air plant but can also just be used for display, to hold keys or some change. The body is separate from the base.

These planters are all hand sculpted and painted so each on is individual in its own way, flaws and all. There will never be an identical one, even if I sculpted it again.

I believe in recycling all of my packaging materials as to save on waste. What is inside the box is really pretty but the outside might be a box and packing paper I have received from someone else. I try and double box all of my pieces as much as possible for protection so they will also be heavier than normal. Since everything I create is one of a kind, I try and keep it as safe as I can while it is traveling to its new home.
