Description

Afghan Treasures.

This necklace is made from my old stock of handmade Afghan beads. They are made from lapis lazuli, carnelian, Afghan jade (serpentine) and “blond onyx” a soft serpentine like stone.

The light green focal bead represents a typical prayer box for containing prayers or ayahs from the Koran.

The beads include floral and geometric shapes of cubes, tubes and heishi in the typical Afghan matte finished manner. Most such beads made today have a shiny finish and are made in India or China even if the material is from Afghanistan.

Lapis of this quality is hard to find at high prices and virtually unavailable at modest prices.

The findings and silver chain are sterling silver. The Bali style beads are sterling silver and the small old spacers are silver alloy. The necklace has a lobster clasp which can attach at different points along the chain to adjust the size. Strung on strong beading wire.

Size is adjustable from 19-24″

Blue, orange and green with silver color scheme.

See the listings for other Afghan Treasures which are in the same style and would go well with this. Other items made with these beads will be added later

Free shipping by USPS first class mail within the US. Insurance included on items $50.00 and above..
