Fun bird ring from Afghanistan! What is it? The beak and eyes kind of look like a hawk, the breast looks like a pigeon, but peacocks are the bird of the day in ring art from this region.
Whatever it is, it’s a big, huge chunky ring with a lot of detail. So big, it almost feels like a weapon! The bird stands over 1.5″ (4 cm) high off of the band. I’m sorry that I don’t have more images, but had a hard time getting good ones for this one. There is a lot of detailed work on the body and the wings are a dyed red stone. High content of silver.
Estimated age: 20 years
