I’m a fiber artist who loves to hand-dye fabrics, quilt, and work with recycled materials. With my recycled art, I create unique handmade items from upcycled trash, aiming to reduce the impact of environmental waste. I create things like dog and cat collars, luggage tags, wallets, key chains, journals, and more from materials such as soda bottles, beer labels, chip bags, and candy wrappers. If a product has a removable wrapper, I can turn it into something new.

I first discovered my love of working with recycled materials in 2009 after a 7-day sailing flotilla along Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast. Every evening, we’d sail into a new port, tie up for the night, and wander local markets to stock up on snacks and lunch provisions for the next day’s sail.  While “junk food” options were limited in Croatian markets, we discovered a potato chip brand—Cipi Cips—that we absolutely loved. Before long, picking up a bag of these chips in every port became a must. I saved each empty bag, knowing I wanted to turn them into a meaningful souvenir of that unforgettable trip.

Drawing on my quilting background, I realized I could treat those crisp bags the way a quilter treats fabric—cutting, piecing, and stitching them into a new design. This insight led to my first quilt block made entirely from recycled materials.

From there, I began creating items such luggage tags, journals, and key chains. Eventually, I expanded into my most popular line: dog and cat collars. This has given me the opportunity to work with breweries in the U.S. and Scotland and a malting company in Germany to turn recycled labels into products they sell in their shops. To date (April 2026), I’ve sold around 7,000 dog and cat collars and leashes.
