Diane taught herself to crochet by following along in a magazine when she was eight years old.  From there, she went on to knitting, embroidery and sewing.  She is a retired chemistry teacher and for many years she sewed her own clothes, using professional tailoring techniques.  As a world traveler and folk art collector, her appreciation for all hand crafted work is immense!  Diane was a Peace Corps volunteer in Micronesia before she embarked on her teaching career and went on to visit many other countries over the years.  She’s enjoyed knitting retreats in Scotland, Iceland and other places.

Knot Just Hats references the hundreds of hats she has made over the years. After sixty years of knitting, she has gifted family and friends with hats of all styles and she has also been a charity knitter for many years. She does love to make hats, but colorwork and cables have been fun challenges that she tackled in sweaters.  Her workmanship is exquisite and as she is a scientist, she can problem solve complex structural adaptations and has enjoyed testing patterns for other professional knitters.

Diane does not like to make socks.  But, she likes to wear them, so makes a lot of them for herself and they fit perfectly!
