Description
This unique piece showcases a stunning abstract floral design, meticulously created through free motion embroidery.
The design is skillfully crafted using recycled threads, carefully collected from sewing classes and various projects. To ensure its durability, the threads are securely enclosed between two layers of water-soluble embroidery stabilizer. After completing the embroidery, the entire piece undergoes a thorough washing process to release the design from the stabilizer.
Adding a touch of elegance, hand beading is delicately incorporated, providing an extra dimension of texture.
The necklace is elegantly suspended from an 18″ red silk cord, creating a bib-like appearance.
With a design measuring 9″ across and 8″ high, this necklace is a true masterpiece of artistry and craftsmanship.
ABOUT
Gini Holmes is a traditionally trained print maker who loves combining traditional with experimental printing techniques. She has many works in private collections in the United States and Abroad.
She enjoys creating clothing and accessories from fabrics she finds in thrift stores, donations, or retail dead stock. She either directly upcycles the fabric into a new garment, or manipulates it through different textile techniques, including:
• Digital printing from a personal design
• Printing with found objects
• Botanical printing
• Breakdown surface printing
• Dyeing
No printing is ever the same, making each item unique.
She also loves a good “play on words.”
