Description
The Native Vessel series was inspired by my first adventure in the American Southwest, traveling through New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah, I was awed and
inspired by the colors, textures, and patterns that filled the landscape.
“The desert holds a perfect and natural balance between lifelessness and
living vibrancy” -Edward Abbey, Desert Solitaire
The vase is blown glass that incorporates color glass chips and powders in hues of crimson, maroon, and red glass with black lip accent and a white interior, which highlights the exterior pattern and gives the interior a nice translucently. After the glass is blown it is then sandblasted to give the piece a matte finish, the etched surface allows the viewer to a see the subtle details on the surface of the piece.
The vase is approx. 4″ tall x 5″ wide.
NOTE: The vase in the photograph is a sample, each piece is made to order, so each one is unique and colors and patterns will vary slightly.

Thomas Spake Studios strives to create hand blown glass that is unique and contemporary. Texture, color, pattern, light, and motion are all key design elements that run freely through all of the Work produced, these ideas are at the core of creative process. The earth, air, and sea are the inspiration behind the Work, from the sandy ocean floor, to the arid deserts of the American southwest, from the peaks of the Rockies to the distant horizon. I am a curious observer, a witness to what takes place around me, so explore through my eyes.
I sell both through my website and my shop on Etsy and they may have different selections, so do check both:
