Zhanyl Sharshembieva, Master Jeweler of Kyrgyzstan

 

Zhanyl Sharshembieva, of the famed Kyrgyz artisan group Seven Sisters, is a Master Jeweler who works primarily with silver and semi-precious stones. She learned her jewelry skills from her father, one of the most famous saddle and silversmith artists of the Soviet Union. In her designs, she seeks to build on the traditional Kyrgyz ornaments and patterns, many of which are also found in Seven Sisters’ felted silk clothing and accessories designs.
