A 4 legged Rooster animal bowl made of white clay and hand painted in under glaze. The inside bowl is glazed in blue and then the outside is covered in a clear glaze for the final firing. It could be used to hold succulents, jewelry or change. It is actually food safe, so you could also use it for nuts, crackers or candy. It is 6 inches tall and 7 inches from nose to tail across. The opening is 6 x 5 1/2 inches in diameter.

For some of my animal pieces, I throw the body or “bowl” first on the wheel. When it is dry enough to handle, I alter it to make whatever animal suits the bowl shape by maybe adding feet, head and a tail. Sometimes I throw a certain shape for a specific animal and then it morphs into something else entirely. Some pieces have underglaze added for detail and are clear glazed while others just get coated in colored glaze. I like them to be whimsical and fun so I tend to play loose with shapes and colors. No one piece is ever exactly like the next, so they are all original and one of a kind.

I believe in recycling all of my packaging materials as to save on waste. What is inside the box is really pretty but the outside might be a box and packing paper I have received from someone else. I try and double box all of my pieces as much as possible for protection so they will also be heavier than normal. Since everything I create is one of a kind, I try and keep it as safe as I can while it is traveling to its new home.
